I went on a trip to the Honolulu Academy of Art and found it much more appealing than I thought it might have been. They had a great Asian historical art collection, which shouldn't have been surprising, but also a pretty good (if only by names within the collection) Abstract/Contemporary collection. The dorkyist part I found most impressive? The wall plaques were some of the most concisely written and impressively informative I have ever read in a museum/gallery!
